Just as the title says, after the update to iOS17, email search is broken if Organize by Thread is switched on. After the update, anytime I searched my email, it would show the results, but when I clicked the email it would open a blank page. The email results looked correct but there was no way to open the email directly from the results list.

I went ahead and deleted and added the email accounts back in, no joy. Came across a YouTube video that suggested turning off Organize by Threads, this solved the issue but I prefer to have this setting on. All was working in 16, anyone else seeing this issue?

Wow I was having the same issue and pulling my hair. Not being able to thread messages is terrible, but at at least I can search for the meantime. thanks

How is this not a huge issue? Is this not occurring for everyone?

If I search for an email, even if that even is two days old it will open a blank screen if I click on it. Was this known about in the betas? It’s a shockingly huge bug.

Anyone have any updates? I spoke to Apple Support and they said it was Gmail, Microsoft, and Yahoo's fault. They said it was up to them to fix. Support said to use their native apps until it works again with Apple mail. Apple email search with threading remains broken. Very hard to make my iPhone a work phone at the moment.

Still not fixed in 17.0.3. I don't understand how basic stuff like this isn't addressed.

It's definitely very weird considering there are almost certainly thousands of Apple employees who use the Mail app daily and organize their emails by thread and use the search tool.

Either it really only affects specific iPhone models, or even obvious bugs are being ignored for some reason.

Same problem here and was beyond frustrating as I was not sure it was Apple Mail or Gmail server issue.

This worked for me: Make sure "Organize by Thread" and "Complete Threads" are selected. May need to force quit mail for it to start working and emails showing up again.

Oh wow this is really helpful. Thank you. Been struggling with this for a while now. This is really weird as I did not have this setting on in iOS 16 and had no issues. My other device with iOS16 with this complete thread off works just fine.

Holy cow, Complete Thread was the missing link. This fixed the issue, still odd because I never had Complete Threads on before. Thank you so much!
