Aynone know what the release date was for iOS4 on the iPad?

My Wife just got one and I am thinking of getting one, but I may wait for the Official release of iOS4

iPad OS, while based on iPhone OS, isn't exactly the same. No word on any OS update for iPad, but if you buy now, you'll be upgraded when next OS version comes out.

Hasn't been specified yet, but it's aiming for a release date of Fall 2010.

Just get the iPad now, and update the OS later.

Confirmed. I was told by our area sales rep that the new IOS for the iPad was due out (hopefully) in Aug. I agree with pelicanflip... just get your iPad now and upgrade later. Their are too nice to wait it out.

Waiting for long

I have been waiting for a long time, I've had my iPad for two months and expecting the upgrade eagerly, I hope it's August because I heard it would be released with iAds on November, and that would be waiting for too long.

Nevertheless you can just buy your iPad and have the Free upgrade (hopefully) when it comes out.

Nothing hopeful about the free upgrade to iOS4, it's in the Firmware Agreement.

I expect it in September, around the same time as the iPod Touch refresh.

Developers will probably get iOS4 (for testing apps, etc.) 2-3 weeks earlier, so you'll have a few weeks warning before it hits the streets.

There is no "hardware" update, and the software update is a simple matter of plugging the iPad into your computer and clicking "update my OS" in iTunes. No reason to hold off buying one. Your wife and you will get iOS 4 on the same day.

hopefully soon, not being able to multitask and the lack of folders is getting annoying now that my iPhone does it so well...
