iOS4 Multi tasking with Skype?

I read that Skype could be left on the background thread?

How so?

The scenario of

1. Start Skype.

2. Open Safari

3. Return to skype. requires me to restart the app, even after double tapping and selecting skype from the menu that comes up.

Did I miss something? Does the ability to recieve calls and messages on skype remain active while the View Controllers close out?

Yes, you missed a big "something," Skype has not been updated to take advantage of iOS 4 yet. There have been rumors that the update will happen soon though.
