I'm not sure where to put this thread, it's rather an odd bug that I can't pin down. So here goes!
Ever since I bought my first iPod in 2003 I've had two smart playlists that I always use - 4+ Star and 5 Star. I found out that by clicking the first column on the left would organise the playlist by the date I rated the songs, and for me that's the best damn thing ever. Worked just fine on all versions of iTunes and all my iPods. It was going swimmingly until recently.
These two playlists still work fine on iTunes. But if I try to create the same playlist from scratch or even duplicate, then the playlist will be messed up. Instead of being organised by date rated, it flips the order. So I click the column again to flip it round. This works but all new music now sits at the bottom of the playlist, under the first ever tracks I rated. So it goes (1 being newest, 10 oldest); 234561.
So now I have another version of each playlist with a different order.
On the iPod however things go a little funky. Both versions of the individual playlists are laid out in the same order, but I don't even know what they're being arranged by now. The playlist order is just not being taken across. Even when I select another playlist like, 100 Newest Added, it displays the 100 oldest tracks.
I've tried resetting my iPod, restoring, deleting all the music and re-syncing. Can't fix it. I haven't done anything to fix the iTunes problem (the one where I can't recreate these playlists).
Anyone else have this problem? How would one go about informing Apple of this bug?
