IOS5 tetherd to untethered?

I currently have an iphone on IOS5 on a tetherd Jailbreak with redsnow. If an untethered jailbreak comes out, will I be able use the untethered jailbreak over the tethered (As I cannot clean restore IOS 5).

Possibly. Judging from past tethered -> untethered jailbreaks, yes. But the iOS 5 untether could be different.
