Hi there,

Just got my own Adblocker up and running.
"Sources" telling me, apple will not approve Adblocker apps on the app store in iOS9.
I know, nobody really knows it.

My question is: Is there even a demand on an adblocker?
In germany there was a crazy court case about the legality of adblock plus.

I don't want to risk anything, but it would be a pity not to release this because of angry newspapers.

Edit: Made a twitter account: @AdAtomizer

There's a massive demand for an iOS Adblocker, in my experience. The amount of times I've just been scrolling and a new tab would open up randomly. Or suddenly it redirects to some crappy Candy War Throne Saga freemium shovelware on the App Store. Gosh that annoys me something rotten.

If Apple aren't going to approve adblock apps, they sure as heck better make one themselves.

Absolutely. There are blogs with ads that are run by people who are using adblockers personally (with some whitelisting) because even they see ad companies are using pervasive methods.

Personally, the most concerning issues are scripts that do far too much with users' data and slow sites down by 5-10x. That is unacceptable. Download Ghostery and see how fast some sites run without the extra behind the scenes garbage loading. It's sickening.

What are you talking about? There is a crazy demand for Adblockers. And Apple will allow them on the App Store (at least for 64bit devices). They even had WWDC sessions on how to build them. And if your device isn't supported, you can still use the new Xcode sideload solution:

One of the new features of the latest XCode beta is that anyone can now load apps onto their device without having to be a member of the developer program. So you can "sideload" an open source content blocker for free.

Download the latest xcode beta https://developer.apple.com/xcode/downloads/, an open source blocker like https://github.com/krishkumar/BlockParty and "sideload" the app with your own apple id (tutorial: http://bouk.co/blog/sideload-iphone/). When you hit the play button you will get an error message. You have to replace three bundle identifier lines with your own bundle identifier entry (easy via find in project and replace). After the installation, go to Settings/Safari General and enable Content Blockers. Don't expect too much, this Blocker is under development, but so far it works ok.

This is the second time that I've heard content blockers will only be available for 64 bit devices. Could I have a source please?
