This issue started as soon as I upgraded to iOS9.

Previously, when getting in my 2015 Ford Fusion, as soon as I started the car my phone would automatically connect and start playing whatever I was playing, in whatever app, when I turned off the car.

Now, when I get in and start the car, it automatically starts playing music from the music app, even if I was playing a podcast in my podcast app when turning off the car. It seems to be completely random what it plays. In the past week it has played the artist I most recently listened to, along with two other artists that I haven't listened to in months.

So far I have made sure the up next queue is clear and that i close the music app by double clicking the home button and swiping up.

Any suggestions?

This happened to me with iOS 9.. I could swear the problem was fixed with iOS 9.0.1, and returned with 9.0.2. It seems to queue up a ton of completely random music. Very frustrating! Is it still happening for you? My gf and I both drive different Hondas, and it happens to both of us.

Happening to me in 9.0.2 in a 2014 Ford Fiesta. When I was running 9.1 Beta I didn't have this problem.

I'm on 9.0.2 and it is currently fixed.

Same issue here. 6 running 9.0.2. Always automatically plays music from the music app in my 2015 Range Rover, even if I wasn't playing music when I was last driving.

Android? . Just kidding. This has happened to me once or twice over the past 6 months with iOS 9 betas and beyond. It really sucks. Random sh*t starts blaring out your speakers. It's always better if you've gotten in the car with new people.

Try updating the songs on your phone if you haven't already. I can't point to when exactly it stopped for me, but that is something I did that may have coincided with when it stopped.

For some reason it depends on the head unit. My buddies ford is the same as yours. However my pioneer unit works flawlessly. It will pick back up in digitally imported or Pandora regardless of how long I'm away from the car.

Curiously, the odd behavior has stopped for me. Downcast or Music seem to be properly resuming when I get back in the car whereas before it was reliably queuing up the first 20 or so songs (alphabetically) from my library. Tnesper might be onto something, as the only change in the last couple of weeks was that I resynced my phone with my iTunes library - had to remove some stuff to save space.

Other than that there has been no rhyme or reason as to the change. My only guess is that something was corrupt on the phone side in regard to it remembering what it was last playing, and resyncing overwrites that?
