iPhone iOS9 Camera Launch from lock-screen slow

Has anyone else noticed a significant delay (about 3-5 seconds) before the camera is ready to take pictures on your iPhone 6? I'm guessing that the delay is due to algorithm changes made for the 6S and live photos, but given that my phone doesn't even do live photos, I don't see why I should have to wait for the buffer to spool up.

Pretty upset with this change to the OS, because I used to be able to swipe up from the lock screen and start taking photos immediately. Now I usually miss the moment.

Honestly I didn't even notice. But yes, it seems to take slightly longer than before. Not a big deal for me...

Not noticing this. Only maybe a second for focusing, but other than that it's ready immediately.

I did notice this. I thought it was just me. It used to be so much faster on my 6+.

Yes, I noticed this as well!

My iPhone 5S used to be very fast to open the camera and be able to take a photo, less than a second. But since iOS 9 it's occasionally very slow, often showing a black screen for a couple of seconds after swiping up. It's not consistent either, sometimes it's slow and sometimes it isn't.

Every time it happens it reminds me of this moment way back in 2011 when Apple bragged about making the "time to first photo" only 1.1 seconds on the iPhone 4S!

Edit: The embed removed the time tag, so skip to 12 minutes 50 seconds.

What happened to that?! I actually submitted feedback to Apple yesterday about this, because I really noticed it over the past few weeks when I was on a holiday.

I just got my new 6S+, and now I don't have any lag. I tried timing it, and I couldn't do it fast enough! I would suggest a restart and if you want, a restore from icloud backup.

It's interesting how it's only on the first "cold" camera launch in a long time... it doesn't seem to be slow after you've launched the camera the first time. This leads me to believe it's storing some of the camera in memory and then gets shut down after a period of inactivity.

Yes thats it. It gets loaded into ram and thats why it speeds up after first launch
