iPhone iOS9 download is displayed as 1.2KB!

I have just tried to upgrade my wife's iPhone 4s and Apple through me a bit of a weird one!

After connecting to the update servers the upgrade download was shown at 1.2KB; a bit small I think *cough*

Her phone is running iOS 7.1.2 so i'm not sure if this is a stepping stone bypassing 8 and will then offer the full 9 file for download (well that would be the nice solution).

If this will not happen does anyone know how to upgrade from 7.1.2. to 9.0 ???

Did you resolve this? I'm trying to upgrade my moms phone and it's having the same problems. There are some threads on the apple support site, but no solutions. I've consistently tried and it winds up saying "software update failed".

What about trying it via iTunes?

It took a while. but everything worked fine. Verison 9.0 installed and has been patched since without issue. (This was OTA not via iTunes)

Yep, seen this on work iPhones, very strange but works as expected!
