I've updated my iPhone 5 and iPad Air to IOS 9.

On the iPhone, I appear to have all the new notes facilities.

On the iPad, I've got the new sketch and photo buttons, but not the plus sign above the keyboard.

IF I create a new note on the iPhone as a checklist, I can use it as a checklist on the iPad - but I can't create this type of note on the iPad.

I've tried a reset. I've also stopped/restarted syncing notes with iCloud on the iPad.

HAs has anyone else seen this ? Any ideas on how to fix ?

Thanks

Same issue - the text and checklist buttons will reappear if you use the notes app in split screen, but they disappear in full screen. I sent in a bug report.

Thanks. Unfortunately, I've got the original iPad Air, so no split screen !

There's nothing to fix.
1. There is no plus sign on iPad.
2. You can create checklist note using iPad keyboard.

Ha! Figured it out - the "undo" "checkbox" and "text" icons are hidden in the predictive text toolbar at the top of the keyboard - when you start typing in a note, drag the placeholder on top of the keyboard "up" to reveal the toolbar if it's hidden (like mine was). If you're using an external/Bluetooth keyboard, turn it off to reveal the on-screen keyboard, swipe up, and turn the Bluetooth keyboard back on. While all the functions are there, this sometimes-hidden UI is NOT very intuitive.

Agree. Modern Apple (post-Steve Jobs) have a tendency to make simple things complicated. Case in point, a New Tab (+ sign) in Safari on iPhone is hidden even it's the main function of a browser. (And the iCloud tab is hidden on both iPhone and iPad.)

Doh!

Thanks, I didn't even know about the hidden toolbar - I've never been bothered about predictive text, so guess I just never looked for it !

I have the same issue of missing formatting tools on my software keyboard in iOS 9, but there is no "placeholder on top of the keyboard" to drag. The predictive typing suggestions are there, nothing beside them, and nothing above to drag to reveal any other tools.

Edit: I figured it out. I had to turn on "Shortcuts" in the Keyboard options in Settings to get the formatting tools on my keyboard.
