I been searching the internet to find out how much memory does iOS9 use compare to iOS8. If it's more, I would rather pass as I have almost no memory left on my phone. I understand that iOS8 took 4+GB to install and iOS9 only 1GB but I'm not sure if that the same amount after installation. Does anyone know? I would like to upgrade to iOS9 if it means I get back 3 GB that IOS8 used.

"searching the internet" for such a topic..thats how false stuff gets generated cause the internet is full of it & it doesnt take much for people to believe everything on the internet. apple didnt state how much space ios 9 uses, they stated how much space is needed for the upgrade ota..tons keep confusing this, its not hard to understand

my iphone 6 had 55.7gb of capacity on ios 8.4.1, it still has 55.7gb capacity on ios 9.0.1 & 9.1 beta 2. space available is still the same range too 44.2 ~ 44.4gb, so..

Did you happen to look at Apples website?

Smaller, more convenient updates.
iOS 9 does even more to efficiently stream new updates to your device without having to first download and unpack them — which means you don’t need as much free space to update.4 And when it’s time for an update, you’ll get new notification options that let your device update while you sleep or when you use it least.

iOS 9 - 1.3GB

iOS 8 - 4.58GB

[Edit] I see now your question had this info. I seem to recall people saying it freed up space for them and they had more available space after iOS 9. I have a 64gb so don't really pay that much attention to that so cant say for sure if it was less. I am sure both are pretty close to each other though.
