Hi,

I am trying to jailbreak my wife's iPhone 5 on 6.1.4 using the latest Posixspwn 1.0.8 ... but after it "performs its magic" the phone is rebooted and no jailbreak/cydia is installed.

I could swear I was able to JB my own iP5 on 6.1.4 using the same tool (albeit v1.0.7) a few months back.

What's going on here? Any ideas?

Thanks!

was the phone updated to 6.1.4 ota? (over the air) or was it restored in iTunes? or did it come with 6.1.4 installed. if it was updated over the air, you are out of luck. if its the other 2, you should be able to do it. p0sixpwn sometimes glitches out and you have to try it on another machine.

I bought the phone with 6.1.4 already on it, not sure how the previous owner got it there. Will try posixspwn on another PC, thanks!

Give it another shot on another computer but like applenerd said above if it was updated OTA then it wont work.
Sounds like that might be the problem.
Only other option would be to update to the latest 7.1.2 and then jb using pangu.

Hmm, tried it on a PC with WinXP (my main has Win7) and here Posixspwn does not even detect the phone as plugged in. Gonna try another Win7 PC tomorrow and bracing for the worst.

The whole point of this excercise is to remove the 2GB worth of iOS7 install that's just taking up her space and is NEVER going to be installed on ANY iphone in my household.

windows needs to have itunes installed in order to detect an iDevice!

After installing iTunes on the other PC the phone was detected by posixspwn and I was able to jailbreak it!

Thank you!
