1. Does the new iPad come with the fast charger and cable?
2. Is there a third party fast charger (apples chargers run hot)
3. Can I get an adapter to make my existing lighting cables usb c compatible?

will be via the fast charging brick from the sounds. not sure it's built into the actual iPad

What would happen if you use a larger power supply than the 29W that works with fast charging for the first gen iPad Pro? Like the MAcbook Pro one? Will it max out at 29W, can it damage the iPad?

Judging by the WWDC presentation slide by Joz, Fast Charging is only possible though USB-C to Lightning accessories. You will need a USB-C to Lightning cable as well as a USB-C power adapter (29W or more). None of these accessories are included with the new iPad Pros.

Sorry!

It won't damage it, but it will charge at slightly less than 29W when using the 61W or 87W Apple USB-C power adapters - probably 27W, but possibly 18W, depending on Apple's implementation this time round (extensive discussion here if you're interested). We'll know when they start arriving next week!

Has anyone tried out the fast charge ability yet? I would love to use it, but not so keen to get yet another charger and cable when i already have so many standard USB to lightening cables and various 3rd party chargers with things like 'power iQ' with 2.4 amps per port.

However, by the looks of it I'll need to go for one of the macbook/pro chargers and cables if I want fast charging? Sigh....
