After a little back and forth I decided to buy an older iPad 10.5 Pro. Upgrading from my Air 2.
I noticed that the screen gives me a little more "resistance" when swiping and using the pen. Don't know if the coating on my old Air 2 is worn out and that's because it makes it a bit smoother since it attracts my fatty fingerprints more then the pro.
Or is there a difference in the coating between the two models because of the pen support?

New iPads or iPads that have just had their screens cleaned have always felt more resistant to swiping. After a few days all your finger oils will be on there and it’ll start to go away. It is possible they’ve changed the display coating over the years too, but I’d expect that after some use the effect will diminish and/or you’ll get more used to it.

You are probably correct. After a bit more fingerprints it's a lot smoother. Did a proper cleaning of the Air 2 screen and it was the same result (had this one since new and only used a damp microfiber cloth for cleaning), but I suspect the oleophobic coating i worn out on both. Maybe not surprising since they are 7 and 4 years old.
Don't know if it's worth trying to put some Fusso coating on it or just leave it alone?

I installed a tempered glass screen protector on the iPad Pro 9.7 because I was tired of the drag and the fingerprint haze. It resists fingerprints and feels really smooth when swiping. If the oleophobic coating starts to wear out on the screen protector, then we plan to just replace it with a new one. :)
