Been reading this forum for a while and know this has been discuss extensively in the past, but now curious how peoples opinions may have changed now that A12Z pads are out.

Looking at 64gb models only, Cellular would be preferred but seems to be in short supply on the Apple Refurb site. Prefer to order through them that second hand given the screen issues that can arise with the Pro models.

I’m not sure why a new discussion is needed for this. For one, the new iPads have just been announced and should be in people’s hands in a few days at best. Furthermore, we know that the raw performance will be a bit better due to RAM while the CPU advancements are probably pretty low. Again, this is pending benchmarks still.

It’s getting difficult to find the old 10.5 models in Pro style new, so just get the 2018 or current iPad models and enjoy life :)

Bringing this back up now that the 11 Pro A12X can be had for 549 vs 379 for the 10.5 Pro, both being 64gb.
Really only looking at the apple official refurbished stuff as it comes with a full year of warranty and the option for AC+. I have found a few of the never opened 10.5 Pros on sites such as Mercari, but have a feeling I would be on my own with no warranty with those.

Warranty usually starts when it’s sold for the first time, doesn’t it? But I’d be worried about the battery of a device that was on the shelves for this long.

All iPad of the Apple refurb site come with a new warranty, new battery and new back shell. A lot of the 11s on the site will most likely be new that are no longer being sold as such. Apple does a great job with their refurb stuff and never had any issues.
