I wonder if Apple will hold up (like they did with the iphone X) until 2020 to celebrate ipad 10th anniversary for the radically redesign or we will see it in the next year or two?
If they go OLED i think Apple will go with slimmer top and bottom bezels (symmetry with the current 10.5" ones) +faceID

What is your thoughts ?

Its quite possible, I can imagine its a part of the roadmap for the iPad.

There was an interview with Ive's where the question asked "whether there was pressure to realize the new design by the 10th anniversary of the iPhone, he agreed that there was, but claimed that ultimately it was a ‘wonderful coincidence.’"

Ives: "Well (laugh) just for the design team and engineer team! If you try to do a good job, there is always pressure. I understand that what is expected is a change, but what we are trying to keep in mind is always to do the best job, as much as possible.

[Given the years taken to develop the iPhone X] it was a truly wonderful coincidence."

I dont think the development is related to the 10th anniversary of the iPad, but more or less just another stepping stone release that will have a new technology implemented unique for the iPad.

It seems a terrible business decision to artificially delay changes to your products.

Anniversary models are just marketing terms. It's like products that are limited edition.

The iPad isn't as beloved as the iPhone. Heck, even iPod never got one in 2011.

The biggest change in ipad history happened with the Pro. They ain’t waiting.

I really hope the next iPad will share the same type of screen like the X and use Face ID. I am still very happy with my Air 2 but the X features are so nice to use that i can`t wait to see an iPad sharing the same features.

When will the next iPad likely be presented, spring 2018?

I don’t quite yet want OLED on the iPad Pro. At least until OLED is close to being perfected (so there is no image burn-in or at least very, very little, and if so it’s not a major problem, also want better longer pixel lifetime.
But it will happen no matter what, so I imagine in 3 years they’ll do the following...

1.) OLED.
2.) Re-Design and added colors for both sizes.
3.) A12X or A13X (possible 7nm chip).
4.) Apple Pencil and Keyboard 2.0.
5.) Face ID.
6.) 6-8GB RAM.
7.) Steel or 7000 Series Aluminum sides with possible Glass or safe/strong conductive back.
8.) 20MP Back camera.
9.) Super Retina Screen or 4K resolution.
10.) HDR AND Dolby Vision video playback.
11.) 12MP FaceTime camera.
12.) $1200+ price-tag.
13.) Volume increase.
14.) USB-C charging.
15.) Wireless Charging.
16.) Water Resistance.
17.) New more accurate microphone (the one Apple has been working on the past few years.)
18.) 800-1000 Nits brightness.
19.) Bluetooth 5.0.
20.) Thinner/Lighter.
21.) 1TB storage option.

*Big list. Lol.

Kallum.

I'll only buy another iPAD in the future if (and only if) Apple does what is suggested in this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-in-terms-of-battery-in-future-ipads.2082319/

This new iPAD might be made of diamonds...it might have a superb display, 10 TB of storage, more RAM, etc. and even be sold for less than what they ask these days... still I wouldn't buy, unless I could use to watch videos and recharge the battery after 2, 3 days at least.

1 day or less? No. Not again. Especially after this fiasco with iOS 11.
