iPad Pro iPad 12.9 Pro. iBook pages do not turn. Why?

I purchased a 2020 iPad Pro 12.9. Purchased a book through iBook store. Can’t get the iBook pages to turn. I can only scroll up and down. Why? Can I fix this?

Click Aa and disable scrolling.

When you click Aa, look down a bit at the bottom of the box you will see a slider labeled “scrolling view”. Turn it off. Get out of Apple Books and get back in. I wonder why scrolling is the default?

Scrolling view was a feature that they tried to push for a while.
