Ipad 2 for Company Salesmen?

Hello,

Im new to the forum but i am looking for some advice concerning the Ipad2 on iOS5. I am looking at supplying our Sales people with an Ipad 2 for meetings etc showing customers quotes, promotional videos and pictures etc.

Is there a way where we can control the content they have on their Ipads from the office? For example, if we wanted to drop quotes or updated videos etc, into a general itunes, can that then be accessed by everyone on the road, and on multiple devices? Can documents be stored in the cloud and then synced when they are wireless or 3G?

Is anyone using anything similar to this at present?

You'll want to pay for a Dropbox account. (There's a free version but you'll want more space.) Here's their prices:

And then (this is the important parts) DON'T use the Dropbox app on the iPads. It works great if you're online, but if they go in a building without signal, they're screwed.

Instead, you want some kind of 'files' app that can sync with Dropbox. (There are several.) Here's on I use and it works great:

So that will let them browse Dropbox while online AND they can save files from Dropbox to the local disk. So they should be instructed to check the web server whenever they do have internet so that they can download what they need in case they find themselves offline later. (If you pay for 3G service that will happen less than if they have Wifi-only iPads, but it will still happen from time to time.)

The great part about this is that Dropbox is not a program on your computer. When you instal it on your PC or Mac it just becomes a folder. Whatever files you keep in there are seen by everyone. So there's no "choose file to upload" or anything. If it's in the right folder, they'll automatically have it on their iPads.

Ummm...x2...what else can I say.

Don't use an individual iTunes account as that screws each user as to what they can have on there.


We use Dropbox at our company and it works flawlessly.
