I have an iPad 2 (Wifi-only) that is running on ios 9.3.5. I am having issues with iMessage. I am not able to join any groups or send group messages. When I send a group message, it is sent as individual messages to the recipients. When my contacts try to add me to group messages, they are unable to select my apple ID to add it to a group.
I have called Apple support a couple of times but the representatives had no clue how to resolve the problem. They told me that they can offer only limited support for a "vintage model". I tried the following-hard reset, turn off and on the iMessage app, and even factory reset but nothing helped.
