Hi,

My iPad 2 is still on iOS 7.1.2 for 2 reasons,

1. Up until now it was the last version that supported jailbreaking
2. Horror stories about how iOS 8 runs on the iPad 2

Now that iOS 8.1 can be jailbroken, is it worth updating before 8.1.1 comes out and possibly blocks this jailbreak ?. Ive got a 32gb 5th gen iPod touch that runs fine on 8.1 right now, its another A5 device and all the updates were even done OTA, although it does seem to be the only A5 device that nobody has complained about iOS 8 on yet.

Ive heard some people say its fine as long as you do a do a factory restore in iTunes, whilst others have said its turned their device into a slide show.

What would you do in my shoes ?.

I would only upgrade to 8.x iOS if my device would run well on it, and the j/b has all my tweaks working. Also look at the features that iOS 8.x brings and figure out what you'll be able to use on your generation iPad, and if it would actually benefit you to go past the 7.1.2.

The iPad 2 is slower on iOS 8. Its still usable but it drops frames and most things take a little longer than iOS 7...
