Hi

I was given a Ipad 2 by a relative who didnt use it as it was slow and outdated The ipad 2 came with IOS 5, i managed to update it to IOS 9.3.5, and i cant go any further as this this is a 32bit machine and the next batch of IOS are for 64bit

I find the Ipad a little sluggish on rich content web pages and when viewing high quality PDF magazines and the screen a little small for reading magazines and watching movies via YouTube Webpage

Would upgrading to a Ipad Pro 12.9 2015 offer better performance, i know its still dual core but has 4 times as much ram and higher res screen and is on the latest IOS 15, and lots of room to view PDF files movies in detail

Ive seen a IPads pro 2015 ones going for about £230.......would it help

It will certainly be a big performance improvement but why would you want to buy a 4-6 year old iPad and not grab a newer one with warranty and fresh battery and even more power?

The 2015 is many times faster than the iPad 2. Dual core means very little in the comparison. The cores in the 2015 are almost 10 times faster than those in the iPad 2.... (don't look are cores like they are all the same, iPad air 2 has 3 cores, but is much slower than the 2015 pro, whose core are twice as fast, and many more recent iPads for instance have 4 cores but only 2 are powerful cores, the other 2 are efficiency cores... ). And RAM is not 4 times more, but 8 times more. A little sluggish is an understatement. I have an old iPad 2 and it's unusable. The 2015 is decent. The difference is night and day.
Battery may be degraded however, but if the iPad is in good condition Apple will replace it for $99. Or if you are lucky it's still in decent condition.

Thanks for your help

Reason for buying the the 2015 Pro is costs, cant afford the newer ones and wont use all its capabilities (120hz screen quad core) and since im only going to be watching YouTube & NetFlix and reading High Res PDF magazines.

Looks like the diffrence between 2011 Ipad 2 & 2015 Ipad pro is night and day...

Ive deciced to give the Ipad 2 back to my sister im sure she will find some benifits going from IOS 5 to 9.3.5 since most apps wont install and the ones that came with IOS 9 are updated.
