Per OP’s post here, veteran eligibility is new and has just been made available at AAFES and the other military exchanges. Online verification is done at vetverify.org, then online registration at the exhange in a few days.

These are being sold through the military channels, but both of my iPads were sourced and shipped directly from Apple. I'm very happy with what Apple has done with this promotion. When it was announced I thought it would sell out immediately, but with Apple doing the fulfillment, they're ensuring any military member that wants one can get one. Thank you, Apple.

They are being sold at the PX, but from what I hear they didnt get very many and what they had sold out quickly. Always best to call ahead.

We received our iPads today and I'm very impressed with how this entire deal went down. Easy to order, shipped quickly (directly from Apple, btw) and the process to upgrade to iOS11 was obviously simple, and the iPad runs amazingly well on ios11. This tablet is a great value imo, even at the Black Friday deal of 250 that it appears to be at most major retailers.

I ordered them last Friday. Apple filled the order on Tuesday and they arrived on Thursday.
