hi all, ok weird question but worth a shot... i've got a beloved original ipad air here, w/ a shattered screen and in need of a new battery... it's chassis is scarred and dented from a somewhat colorful past. i also have here a nice shiny ipad "2017" with a bad logic board... my plan was to swap the original air logic board, wifi module, front-facing camera into the ipad 2017 housing and give it a new life, and everything looks fine... except for the moves volume buttons. there is no way for the old flex cable (with MUTE switch) to work in the new housing due to the buttons being moved.

so, can anyone venture a guess as to whether the new button flex cable from the 2017 will work with my original air logic board? i don't care about losing the mute button. thx in advance all..!
