Hi,

I wonder if anyone have a new 2018 iPad and experiences this issue.

When you set a wallpaper and reboot the iPad in landscape mode, once you are back on the Home Screen and pull down the Lock Screen from the top, the image's right side will be cut off.

STEPS:
Make sure you hold the iPad in landscape mode during this entire procedure!

1. Set a wallpaper.
2. Shut down the iPad. Don't put it to sleep, but completely shut it down.
3. Reboot.
4. Once rebooted and you are on the Home Screen, slowly pull down the Lock Screen from the top.
5. The image's right side will be cut off. See the attached image and screen recording.

I can repro this every time while holding the iPad in landscape mode. It doesn't happen in portrait mode.

I also have the issue where sometimes (and so far I could not figure out when and why) the app icons "collapse" on the home screen and the app titles will not be visible. (See attached)

Tested this in both iOS 11.3 (original system) and 11.3.1.

If you have a new 2018 iPad, I was wondering if you can repro this. Thanks.

So far 86 people looked at this but nobody replied, so I assume I'm the only one with this issue. In which case it must be hardware related. Since I bought the iPad only 4 days ago, I'm going to return it - possibly exchange.

It's probably a software bug, but it's such a specific series of steps that you need to follow to make it happen, why not just avoid doing that? For instance, why do you need to reboot your iPad right after setting a new wallpaper? And do you have to set it in landscape orientation?

You do not "have to" set a wallpaper. And you do not "have to" reboot the iPad right after setting a wallpaper. You can reboot the iPad whenever you wish. I wrote the steps for completeness. When you report bugs, people/developers want to know how to repro the issue. If I were to say that "the lock screen is messed up", developers would have no idea what steps/measures I have taken to make that issue happen and what do they need to do and in what order to make it happen. And so, the steps are there for completeness sake.

You can just simply reboot the iPad without doing any wallpaper settings and repro the issue.

And why do you have to hold the iPad in landscape mode? Well, first, because you can. Second, because depending on the task and application, many people hold it landscape. And third, because that's when the bug shows up.

It's like saying that my car stalls when I'm backing up. Since you have the same make and model car, does yours stall when you are backing up? And then asking, why would you want to back up when most people drive the car going forward?

I understand what you’re saying, but all I’m saying is that you can avoid those specific conditions. For example, I understand why you might want to use your iPad in landscape, but you specified keeping the iPad in that orientation through the entire wallpaper setting and rebooting process. So can you avoid the problem just by setting the wallpaper in portrait then reorienting?

I get that you shouldn’t have to change your habits to avoid glitches, but sometimes you have to put up with things like that and hope it gets fixed in the next update.
