So I have an iPad 8 (2020 model) and the lightning connector is damaged - a cable broke off in there. and in my infinite wisdom I tried getting it out myself with glue etc. I tried my luck with Apple and they got it out, but said I had damaged the port (surprise surprise), and now charging is very sporadic

Rather than picking up an entire new iPad, I was wondering about getting the port itself replaced. It seems possible and I’ve seen guides online…but none for iPad 2020. I probably wouldn’t do it myself and would find a repair company, but the fact I can’t even see guides or parts makes me skeptical if it’s possible - so I was wondering if anybody knew for sure?

I had a problem with my 2018 and took it to Best Buy since they are an Apple approved location, they said Apple doesn't repair that, they just sell you a new iPad at the adjusted cost. They wanted $618 for my 2018... I have a 2021 instead.

Yes, it's fairly easy for a shop to repair it. Shops offer the service for around $50 on eBay.

The process is the same whether it's iPad (2017) or iPad (2020) which makes it easy for most shops.
