I have an iPad 3, which I put aside a month or so ago, with the intention of passing along to my children. I went to get it today, only to find that the battery has swollen / expanded and pretty much destroyed the enclosure. I was wondering what my options were? Is this battery likely to explode / expand further?
I'm in the uk, if that makes a difference...

ok - the person at apple said that they would charge me £99 to repair it. I don't really think it's worth it tbh, as JPack has suggested...

I think they usually swap against a similar product. See what they say in the store after inspecting it.

Did the Apple store dispose the battery, if not. Lowe’s and Home Depot can take it for you.

That’s super dangerous. Replace the battery ASAP. The iPad is done though. It’s obviously pushed up the LCD which is screwed on as well as the glass and cables.
