Hello,

I've just bought an iPad 3 and because I don't plan to store a lot on it I only got the 16GB version but have found that I have 5.3GB of Other in the summary page.

I restored this iPad3 from my old iPad1 that only had 1.5GB of Other data.

Does anyone know what this is or how I can get rid of it?

Thanks, Daniel

Two possibilities:

It is either your music collection mis-categorized (happened on my iPhone when I updated to iOS5) OR:

It is iOS6 that has been downloaded via OTA updates and is sitting on your iPad waiting to be installed. If this is the case you should have a "1" notification on your settings button.

If you try restoring it again it may change, or since it's new you can set it up as a new device and simply move all of the content from your previous iPad over to it.

Hope this helps.

it is annoying - I also have 3,2 gigs of other on my ipad3, but I can live with it as I still have around 14 gigs available. I was really mad about with 6 gigs of other on my 4s, because it was running out of storage space. spent couple of hours trying to clean it and succeeded eventually, but don't want to go through all of this on my ipad. you could expect something like that from microsoft (they improved a lot, I don't remember when I had problem with windows), but not apple.
is there any way to turn off ios update and delete it form ipad to recover some space? I have notification "1" in settings, but really don't need this ios 6.0.1 update, because I am satisfied with 5.1.1.
