iPad 3G bank help

I bought a iPad 3G from apple. I received an email like many from apple stating that I will still receive it by late april (after the iPad 3G shipping text changed to may 7).

I was charged for the iPad after that email but now they removed the payment. Is this suppose to happen? Are they just doing a check towards if my bank account is legit and will charge me again once the device ship?
