I'm from Norway and will be travelling to NY mid June. I've noticed on many forums that most stores located in NY Manhattan are currently sold out for the 3G version because of an extremly high demand. And now I'm afraid I'm not gonna get my iPad after all. How is the current stock situation? Does anybody know? I tried to call the Apple store on 5th av, but a friendly voice told me that it was impoasible to make any reservations via phone:-( so in other words I can not be put on a waitlist either.. If the situation is that bad, do any of you have any suggestions on what i can do in order to be 100 percent sure to get my iPad?

you're probably best off ordering it and getting it sent to someone you know in NY. and they are available to reserve instore, or at least they were yesterday - did you tell them you were from Norway? i pretended to be from the states (yes, i put on an accent and everything!) and managed to reserve one, though i doubt it will actually come anytime soon.

one thing to bear in mind though is that you have to pick it up within 24hrs of reserving, so if you reserved now it will probably arrive too soon.

Yeah, if I knew someone I definitely would ask them to order one or two (my girlfriend suddenly wants one as well:)) for me..I didn't actually speak to anyone at the 5th avenue store, it was the answering machine who informed me that unfortunately they don't accept any reservations via phone...so I hung up.

Well, then I guess the only thing I can do is to pray that they still have some left in stock when I arrive the 16th of June....This is terrible..not knowing if I will get to buy one or not..

Waiting times once you are on the list are 10 days and up. You should probably just get one in Europe, or have a US friend order one NOW and save it for you when you arrive.
