I just finished an e-chat with an AT&T person and was told that the ipad 3G data plans are excluded from Premier discounts. The Premier program (for my company) is a 20% discount on all "eligible" services.

Just checking to see if anyone has been able to get a company discount on the 3G data plans.

Thanks

Unfortunately, I am in the same boat. I get the discount on my primary line and primary data plan, but then it drops off of my secondary and anything else. Neither my data plan for my iPad nor my 3G Verizon MiFi are covered from a discount stand point (sans free activation).

I work for att so i do have some knowlegde behind this...

the reason is it's a pre paid plan, meaning there is no social on your account. hense no way to prove that your the person employed.

so basically if you wanted to get your discount you could sign up for the 60/month 24 month contract plan. like we have for netbooks.

But the 30/m prepaid is awesome thats a discount enough

OK, thanks for the confirmation and explanation! :)

Since you work for big att perhaps you can explain/confirm the ability to enable/disable the service on at least a per month basis. i.e my understanding is that the 30/m prepaid can be "suspended" and "reactivated" pretty easily. Just wanted to confirm that it isn't some horrendous process to do this. I'm thinking of using the 3G ipad for occasional travel and would likely not need the 3G service for a month or so at least a couple of times per year.

It's pretty easy. The way it's set up is every 30 days your card gets charged.

So if you load you account with 30 dollars on the 15th you will have that for 30 days. You can't stop it in the middle and then restart the rest of your 30 days. but you could load it on may 15th, log onto ur account (on the ipad only) on june 14th and Suspend or Cancel your account and then when you come back from vacation on the 28th reactivate it.

Since att gave apple such a good deal on the data for these it's all done through the ipad itself. kind of like the orginal iphone had to be taken home and activated through itunes.

But just incase you don't know. to get to your account on the ipad just go:

Settings> Celluar Data> View Account> User Name and Password> Then your account will be displayed

To Cancel just tap onn Add Data or Change Plan> Cancel plan

Just reactivate it later

So it's easy just all done on the ipad!
