If this applies to wifi reception too then I'm definitely getting the 3g version. My wifi experience has been awful with my current iPad.

If you read the article the OP linked, you will see that, "Just like the iPad Wi-Fi, there are two antennas that handle Wi-Fi / Bluetooth connectivity, one in the Apple logo and another to the left of the dock connector."

All iPads have the same Wi-Fi antenna placement / functionality.
 
Whoops, using the LCD frame... thread title fixed. And this for 3G only and for the 3G signal only. Nothing to do with wifi
