So my ipad 5th gen lost all ability to use wifi after the last update. The wifi icon is grayed out and you cannot try to turn it on - it's as if the ipad doesnt recognize there is a wifi antenna/chipset.

I am not able to find any other information about this particular problem. Has apple recognized this bug? we tried resetting network settings, resetting all settings and restoring in iTunes with new firmware downloaded via itunes.

Sounds like a hardware problem to me. Go to an Apple Store and see what they think about it.

Not sure how deep you want to get into solving this problem... the rabbit hole may be deep. If you go to

you'll see that iPadOS 13.2.3 is still currently being signed by Apple, which means you could theoretically download and install it on your iPad, jumping back one version. This might be a useful test to see if jumping back a version brings wifi back again. However, be advised that Apple doesn't support restoring data from a newer version to a prior version, so you'd have to deal with that as needed (re-entering account information, lose game settings, etc etc).

Also, the signing window could close at any moment. Here is an article outlining the steps you need to follow:

The crucial step is the one where you option click on the "Restore iPad" button, midway down the article.

And yes, it could be coincidence that hardware happened to break just as you updated.

Hey there,

I have exactly the same problem as you with my iPad. I contacted Apple and told them about my problem after updating to 13.3 and the engineers answered: It's a hardware problem, lol. Every time I downgraded to 13.2 everything was fine, but they disabled the downgrading to 13.2 :-(

My own opinion: It's not a hardware problem, but a software problem!

are there any others with the same problem? I won't give up my IPad 5th gen, because it's still like new!

Regards,
Lukas
