How/ where can I turn of the “secure password “ gizmo that insists on per filling in a generated PW. It’s fine on IPad stuff....bit it does not transfer to my 2011 iMac not upgraded the last two free updates, nor on my mini iPad 2 or my iPad retina 3!
I just prefer to create my own PW!

hi

i am not sure if its the same on iOS (for iPad) but on my iOS 12 for iPhone it can be done in:
Settings/Passwords and Accounts/ and then clicking off Autofill passwords.
If you really dont want to use this, then before doing the above I would also actually delete the currently filled in autofill ones first and then turn if off.

one word: it took a little time before i was able to trust the autofill but now i always prefer to use it.
to get it set up correctly for passwords to be used across iOS/macOS you do need to turn on iCloud Keychain.
after you do that its instantaneous in being able to use across mac and iPhone passwords.

I am OK with my chosen passwords( I have 92 listed) being auto filled....it’s this new thing which pops up and places a 16 or 20 digit PW made up of random letters and numbers....there is an option to “ use my own password”. OK I heard that....so why not do just that! Well, it took me 10 minutes trying to catch the pop up before it slid down off the page.....and no way to over type the suggested one!
