I recently discovered a line of what appears to be dead pixels across the screen. Does anyone know what this is and if there is a fix?

could it be a a software glitch, some weird remnant of using split screen before going full screen again?

the line appears to be just in the right place ...

have you tried to restart / reset the device?

Never seen that on an iPad, but it did happen on an iMac I owned once. It was the beginning of the end for that screen. It got progressively worse over time. Not saying that's your case here, but it's a possibility.

If it shows during boot or after a reset to factory condition it’s likely a hardware problem.

Thanks for your replies.

Did a full device reset and one of the lines moved further down but the one going through the middle has remained.

Lines do not show when device is off.

Any other suggestions much appreciated!

Any time there’s a vertical or horizontal line, it’s nearly 100% a hardware problem, often due to drops or bumps. The display is controlled by a matrix of rows and columns. If the controller can’t communicate with the LCD, it will fail as a line.
