Hi All,

I hope you can help me. Currently experiencing battery issues on my son’s iPad 8.

Its almost loosing 21% every hour of use. He is only allowed 3-4 hours of screen time mixed usage of Streaming and Kids Games (He is only 5 years old).

Connected to iMazing to check health and its down to 88% as of today with only 40 cycles and iPad itself was purchased on 17 Oct 2020.

Apple support ran diagnostics remotely to confirm battery health is showing as 91% on their test and yes it shouldn’t be deteriorating this fast.

Battery has been well looked after. Max discharge to 35% and Max charge to 85%. Always followed this regime in past and even on my other devices and never had this issue.

I have booked Genius appointment but Apple Support Tech advised the battery is still within allowed threshold so do not know what will be done on the day.

I do not care if they replace it now or later but it will eventually drop to 80% well before 1 year warranty expires or the approx recommended 1000 cycles.

I hope some one can help on this forum.

Thanks
Sal

Have you tried putting the device into low power mode?

Somewhere!
Have you tried hard resetting it? Have you tried restoring it? Just offering a few suggestions. Also don't believe everything you see in iMazing. Don't get me wrong I use the app myself and really like it. But I would base my opinion on what Apple tells me.

did you set it up as new? even if you did erase everything and start setup again as new.
That app is not reliable. Have been thru this with an 11 inch ipad pro.
better than waste time with the appointment, restore as new.

Low Power Mode is not available.

Done full dfu restore. Set up both as new and used iTunes back up but it made no difference.

Apple Tech Support gave me figure of 91% yesterday. I also tried 3utools and the battery health is showing the same.

I’ve purely booked an appointment for them to run diagnostics in person. Ideally i would like the battery to hold charge as normal and take the iPad in for battery replacement when it hits 80% or below at later date.

Also installed battery grapher which i use on my 12 Pro Max and is very reliable. Its showing average battery life 8 hours. Below is the screenshot from my 12 Pro Max and average battery life is 46 hours.
