iPad iPad 8th gen: iOS 13.7 or iOS 14 out of the box?

Hello, this is a quick question for those who already got an 8th gen iPad: does the iPad 8th gen come with iPadOS 13.7 or iPadOS 14 out of the box? I’m interested because, regarding all the battery issues I’m reading about iOS 14, maybe it would be best to purchase one now and keep it on 13.7 until iOS 14 becomes stable enough.

iOS 13.7 works like a charm on my devices.

I think one of the iPad 8 threads featured an unboxing and it showed iOS 14 out of the box. This is pretty normal with new devices released at the same time as a new iOS version.

It comes with iOS 14. I wouldn't worry about stability though.

Great, thank you man! Then I don’t have any hurry to get one and I’ll probably wait until the Black Friday sales.

The fact that you’re getting better battery life might be because, in case it still retains the same batteries as the 7th gen, this has a SoC much more power efficient (from a 14/16nm to a 7nm lithography). Let’s wait to see the iFixit teardown.

They said at the launch event that the iPads shown would ship with iPadOS 14. That's pretty much always the case with the September hardware event, although usually iPhones are the focus. The new iOS is released to the public a day or 2 after the even, and all the new devices ship with it, because why wouldn't they?
