Hey Everyone,

I recently picked up a used 8th gen iPad (10.2") and have been enjoying it the past few weeks. I have a cheap amazon case on it now for some basic protection, but have been curious about adding a better keyboard case / folio.

It looks like the best options are the Logitech Combo Touch and the iPad Smart Keyboard. Besides the lack of a touchpad on the Smart Keyboard, is there any reason why one is better than the other? I'm assuming I shouldn't also expect to have "macOS" like gestures with the Logitech's trackpad either.

Any opinions / feedback / etc. on either Logitech or the SK would be super appreciated. Thanks!

Smart keyboard is lighter and above all it's magnetic so easy to remove. I don't want a case that stay on my iPad all the time, but YMMV

I got my mom the iPad 8th gen and Logitech combo touch combo a couple of yrs ago…so can speak to that combination! For reference, I have the M1 iPad Pro/Magic keyboard combination!

The combo touch is excellent! Super high quality and fantastic (Apple like) keyboard and trackpad! All of the same gestures! I really like the combo touch! Highly recommend!

Pros:
-excellent trackpad
-excellent keyboard
-full row of function keys
-quality material: look/feel
-really protects the iPad
-many options with detachable keyboard: drawing, tablet use, keyboard!

Cons:
-it’s bulky
-it’s heavy
-the keyboard, being detachable, can come “detached”…so have to “be always aware”.
-not great for lap use since keyboard is detachable!

All things considered though….an excellent keyboard case!!!

Thanks for the reply! You might not know the answer to this since the combo was used by your mom, but would you say it's "Airplane Tray" friendly (tight areas)?

Both are ok. Apple’s one is better and more expensive

Go for the Logitech. They are both good, but the Apple Smart Keyboard costs more… too much for a second handed iPad.
