Yes, probably yet another post like this. Seeking feedback. Prefer not to spend $1M on a new Ipad.

95% of my time is simple web surfing, Kindle, Facebook, Twitter. I do NOT produce videos or take photos via my Ipad (currently 1st gen). I do not plan to.

With that said, I see alot of hoopla regarding the A14 chip, 30% faster, etc. etc. But do I need it? Prob not.

Ideas, feedback? Note: I travel alot and have an Iphone XR. Charges via lightning connector, which means if I buy the Ipad 8th gen, I can use the same charger, versus carry multiple chargers around.

Thank you

I don't think A12 will be an issue for a long, long while. Heck, we've still got A9 and A9X devices in the household and I expect those will still be in use for at least 2-3 more years unless the limited LTE bands become an issue for network coverage and speed.

Think flying economy vs business class. Both will get you to your destination just the same. One just provides a nicer experience.

Yeah, get the iPad 8th gen. It is the perfect device for your use case.

There’s want and there’s need.
I was in the same boat and went Air. It looks nicer, feels much snappier, and sounds better too.

But truth be told, the 8th gen handles everything I need a tablet to do.
I just wanted the one that would make me happier. ?

Go with the 8th gen. You will be able to get some great deals on them this time of year. I picked up a 7th gen last year the week after thanksgiving for 239! Since the air 3 the airs have been the odd middle child using left over and down graded pro parts. Granted the A14 is nice in the new one but the A12 is still a very good processor. The 7th and 8th gen iPads seem to be the perfected design of what I call the classic iPad and they just seem to have less issues.
