Hi,
I had an iPad Air 2 that I bought right after its introduction. It was a great device that I used with the leather Apple smart case. It stopped working so I got a new 9.7 iPad, but it seems that the great leather case is discontinued. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good replacement? I loved the feel of the leather case, and the auto off feature was really nice.

Cases are a personal thing but for me the Apple leather Smartcase for the iPad Air and Air 2 was the best iPad case ever made. It’s a shame that Apple, or anyone else, doesn’t offer anything similar anymore.

However, if you have the 2017 or 2018 iPad 9.7 inch then the leather Smartcase for the original iPad Air (iPad Air 1) can be made to fit. I got a new in box case off eBay for £20. They fit fine, apart from the rear camera and volume controls. These are in a slightly different position. All I did was to open the camera hole out a bit and cut out a small area for the volume controls. Then I tidied the holes up with a little expoxy and leather polish. The sleep/wake and everything else works just fine. The magnets are even strong enough to hold the Apple Pencil.
