iPad a monitor?

Thinking along the lines that if Apple is providing a VGA dock connector (its one of the accessories!) to output video, its feasible that one could right a program to import video?

Even without the touch screen capabilities a portable 9" monitor of that quality would be perfect for my application (Live-View & Review Monitor for Video Camera).

So can it be done, is someone doing it? Is there an App for that?

You should check out the iDisplay app, looks like it is still "rough" but shows promise.

Neat, however I was looking for one that would use the cable as it isn't a computer I wanted to hook into (rather a camera).
