iPad Air 1-2 smart covers fit new iPad?...

I know old back cases will not fit, but it seems like the smart covers should all fit with each device. I used my Air 1 covers from my Air 2 and it had no issue, BUT does anyone's have the new iPad and an older Smart Cover where they could test this for me just to be sure?

A bit late, but I can confirm that the original smart cover works fine with the new ipad. I was actually able to snag one for just $9 on clearance at Walmart.

I have spoke to a few Apple employees and the consensus is that they will fit. The form factor's are close enough so they work.
