Hi all,

Assuming that the two are (almost) at the price point, is there any reason to prefer the older Ipad Pro 12.9" M2, 8GB (2022) over the new Ipad Air 13” M2, 8GB (2024)?

It is my understanding that the pro probably has a better screen (mini-LED 2D), while the air has a better front camera location..not sure about the rest :)

Thanks in advance.

Pro all day every day. The screen you are looking at all the time is better, quad speakers and Face ID.

$800 for the base 13” Air, $1100 for the base 12.9” 2022 Pro. There are some sites that list the Pro at about $50 less, YMMV.

That is a significant price difference. If you are comparing secondary market vs new, it’s not a fair comparison, one is used. If a $300 difference is what you consider “almost”, get the M4.

Where I currently live, the price difference between Ipad pro 2022 and Ipad air 2024 is approximately USD 115 (the pro is more expensive). I understand that it is not "the same" price, but IMHO, it is close enough to consider buying the pro. Unless you think that Ipad pro 2022 is not worth the extra USD 115.

Perhaps I should have mentioned the price gap in my question..

Thanks.

As a frequent video call user, the newer Air is better for my needs. The side placement of the camera on the M2 Pro is getting old, even though it is objectively better in every other way. I can live with the Air for the €200 cost savings, but if video calls are not a priority for you, the Pro could be a better buy and should be supported for just as long.
