If you want scratch protection without the thinkness of a hard case, you may choose iCarbons which uses 3M Viyrl PVC decals (dry installation with the help of a hairdryer). I am using a bottom and touchpad skin from them for my rMBP. As a note, they seem doing the Apple logo cutout again on the back skin for iPad Air 2. Really nice.
