iPad iPad Air 2: Performance/Battery life on iOS 10.3

Battery issues with iOS 10.3 on iPad Air 2?

Hello guys,

how is the performace of iPad Air 2 on iOS 10.3? Currently I use iOS 9.3.5 thinking about updating to iOS 10.3.

And are there any known battery issues as it has been the case with iPhone 6/6s models?

Actually I could stay with iOS 9.3.5 but I could benefite from the Safari split screen feature.

Im on iOS 10.3.1 and my battery life is excellent 9-10 hours daily although my settings are optimized for that main thing is 25% brightness. Performance is smooth enough although in Split View now I'm noticing 1 app will usually be slightly stuttering when scrrolling but that's about it. when using 1 app or safari things are as good as they were with iOS 8 originally.

Nope iOS 10 was actually a godsend to the Air 2 I find it much more responsive and polished compared to iOS 9xx were things never seemed to be quite fleshed out. I can pretty much guarantee you will have improved experience from iOS 9 to iOS 10. Remember though restoring fresh to iOS 10 is the best way to guarantee the best performance possible and avoid possible issues with apps and what not
 
I have nothing but good things to say about iOS 10 on my Air 2. It runs smoothly and, other than the already mentioned rotation bug, I haven't found any things in it that would discourage me from recommending the upgrade to people.

Did you upgrade to 10.3 in the end?
I am in the same boat...still on 9.3.5 and thinking of upgrading.
How are you finding it? Is it noticeably slower or is it faster?

Feature wise there is nothing pressing for me, but some apps are starting to require 10.3 (affinity photo, Apple Store app etc) so I am on the fence.

Upgrade you will not regret it, just do a fresh install if possible and avoid restoring a backup
 
Keep 9.3.5. I promise your not missing out on much. Also, don't forget that if you decide to go with iOS 10 there will be no way to downgrade back. Battery life is nowhere near as good on iOS 10. I was getting almost 11 hours on iOS 9 and now I barley get 10 hours, its actually 9.5-10 if I don't do anything too taxing. A lot of people have mentioned that games stutter slightly every so often, that might be something to consider as well. Keep 9.3.5. I wish I did. :confused:

Thanks for the replies...although I am still no closer to a decision.
Having been bitten by upgrades before I am hesitant.

I knew that things are still going to fairly decent at worst on an iPad Air 2, but small slowdowns can cause annoyances.. I am going to stay on iOS 9 for a while longer.

I just wish they would still sign older versions.. there are a lot of still usable devices that have been crippled by updates. It's even worse now that they basically force you to upgrade (unless you disable the nagging.)

Are you kiddding, I know personally from experience I upgraded from iOS 9 to iOS 10, (clean install) iPad Air 2 was noticeably smoother overall. Stutters from iOS 9 vanished in iOS 10.

To be fair, I am not the only one.
I know your experience was a good one, but as others have said, it is not universal.
Maybe I have been bitten too many times before and would rather keep a fully working, bug free, fast iPad in the same state. Surely you can understand that? If things aren't broken why fix it?
