iPad Air 2 Restore Q

good afternoon,

When I started school we were forced to buy iPad Air 2s from my veterinary school. It has device management software on all of them. We no longer use them for anything.

Can I restore in DFU mode to get rid of the management software?

An easier way that should work: Go to Settings » General » Device Management, choose the installed profiles, then hit "Remove Management" for each/any. That should remove their policies from your device. This will also remove any applications assigned to your device by those profiles.

If that doesn't work, then restoring your iPad in DFU mode should work.

Thanks for the advice! Somehow they removed the option to remove the profile so I’m glad DFU will work

actually you don't need a DFU. just a regular restore. DFUs are only needed when you have a power issue or you are locked out of your passcode.

BUT be careful because there's a particular MDM set up that some schools have used that ties the profiles to the serial number in Apple's system so even if you restore it, the profiles are loaded. you might have to go to the school and be like "dude I have graduated and I paid for this myself so take my serial off your system". nicely of course
