All iPads iPad air 2019 and flash drives

We are thinking of buying the Apple iPad AIR 2019 with 64 Gb of memory.
Question:
What we would like to do is attach a flash drive, eg, 64, 128 Gb, to the port on the AIR and run NETFLIX from the flash drive. Is that possible?
If not possible, is it possible to download movies from Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc, and store them on the flash drive to watch later using the AIR's video player?

It's not possible now nor do I believe it will b under iPadOS. Netflix and Amazon Prime store their downloaded content within memory space "owned" by their respective applications - you can't specify elsewhere as standalone data.

No. Probably unlikely to ever be supported by official video streaming services that use DRM.

Should be doable via DRM-free video players like Infuse, though. Caveat is for the actual videos, you either have to make your own rips from Blu-ray/DVD or download from pirate sites.

That's the digital equivalent of recording from, say, cable or antenna to VHS.

Due to copyright issues, it's highly unlikely that Apple's gonna allow an app like that into the App Store. On iOS 10+, I couldn't even take simple (still) screenshots of Netflix videos. All I get is a black rectangle.

sparked is correct. You can download content, but not to an external drive.
Having said that, even with a 64 GB iPad, you would have to download quite a bit of content before you run into space issues (depending on what else you're doing with the iPad). You could probably download two dozen movies and still have some pretty comfortable space to work with. However, if this is a primary use for said device I would recommend stepping up to the 256 GB option and you wouldn't have to worry at all.
