I purchased the Ipad Air 2019 a few months ago and it had some issues with either apps getting stuck or screen going black. This happened only a few times and was always fixed with hard reset and I though that I most likely should give IOS a fresh start and reinstall it.

I had forgotten the problem until today when I noticed that even the hard reset would not fix the problem. The screen would sometimes briefly show a picture for a millisecond when pressing the home button until it went black again. Sounds when pressing the home button or power button could be still heard and the backlight would still turn on and off.

I already reinstalled IOS per instructions from the store I bought it but unfortunately it did not fix the problem. The next step is taking Ipad to certified repair service which will unfortunately take a while.

Meanwhile I would be interested to know whether anyone has had similar problems with the new Ipad Air 2019 or with the new pro's or other models?

Definitely a hardware related problem. I’d assume you just got a bad egg.

Thanks for the replies. What is strange that at the morning the IPad was working again and now that I have spent a few hours with it there seem to be no problems.

I have not contacted apple directly but the certified repair center though it might still be better to send it in to be checked. They said that sometimes problems like this come and go and I haven’t decided yet on what to do.

If it has to be repaired by apple it will take over a week. And if no problem is found there will be probably be some kind of fee.
