Ever since I updated to iOS 14, my iPad will look like it’s about to turn off, but then go to the lock screen. So my iPad goes black and there’s a circle turning like it’s about to shut down, but goes to my lock screen, closes everything I have. ( watching a show) then it will look like it’s about to shut down then go to lock, I unlock iPad, and everything I have opened, apps or safari are removed. So I gotta re open everythin. Does this happen to anyone else. ?

That’s known as a respring, or springboard restart.
There was some people talking about this being an issue in the iPhone forum, but it appears that the 14.0.1 update may have sorted it for some.
Are you on the latest update?

On iPadOS 14.0.1 and on my iPhone I had that problem, but since the new update I haven’t had the problem on my iPhone, but I’m up to date on my iPad, and I still have this problem, doesn’t happen ALOT but it’s very annoying specially if I’m watching videos.

I’m on an Air 3 and an XR, both with 14.0.1 and I haven’t had the issue at all myself.
Hopefully others may be able to help further, though I imagine the next step may be to backup and erase the device to see if this fixes the issue.

Yeah that’s weird, my iPhone did have the problem but stopped when updated to 14.0.1. Wish that would be the same for my iPad

I used to have respring issues when flying through the Photos app, but that no longer happened after a restart.
