Hi guys,
I currently have a 10.5” iPad Pro and thinking about eventually getting the air. I realize I don’t really need the “pro” for what I use my iPad for, and the cost of the Air is way better compared to the iPP.

Has anyone seen a sale for them? Even the iPP has been on sale pretty recently. I do see the cellular model air on sale now, but I just want the WiFi only. Don’t plan on hooking it up to cellular and don’t really need to.

I think the Air was $100 off across the board just 1-2 weeks ago.

That said, if you already have an iPad Pro 10.5, is there any reason you wish to get the 2019 Air? It's like a minor CPU upgrade for major features reduction (no ProMotion, no quad speakers, worse camera with no LED flash, 1GB less RAM, etc).

This model of the iPad Air 3 is on sale.

It’s precisely alike rui wrote, going from an old Pro to the Air is a downgrade in various respects.

Oh really? I'm not really looking to upgrade now, but just looking at what options are out there when it's time to. Or if I decide to pass this device onto a family member.

I’d rather look for a discounted 2018 iPad Pro, there should be some on sale these days - or a refurbished one straight from Apple. Best success!

Apple Certified Refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 11-inch for $549.

the Air 3 is a huge downgrade to your pro 2017. If anything, just replace your battery. The CPU bump will be hardly noticeable.

I picked up an Apple certified refurbished 2018 iPad Pro 12.9" Space Gray 256GB WIFI only for $746 including a 10% veteran's discount. Looks and acts brand new. Love it.

Check if your family member is a power user or you might just have the same use case. If he/she needs the pro features (for drawing or multitasking), then getting the Air for yourself is a noble idea. It’s a downgrade all aspect except the processor speed but it’s only minimal + you lose 1GB of RAM. I’ve also heard that since losing the 120Hz refresh rate, the device lasts longer than 10.5” Pro but that’s a really minor convenience IMO.
