My mother bought the new iPad Air, but we have noticed this ghosting issue.
Is this normal or something we should bring back to the shop?

Looks normal to me. Bear in mind that the iPad Air doesn't have the higher screen refresh rates that the Pro's have, so there's the ever-so-slight 'stutter' or 'ghosting' that occurs if you really look for it.

Great thank you. My own is an iPad Pro with ProMotion.
No question from me when upgrading. it will also be with ProMotion in the future.

Yep, normal...as everybody else said. This is why iPhones need 90 or 120Hz.

You tend not to notice until you have used a device with a high refresh rate. But once you have then going back is kind of awkward. That’s why you noticed it.

I've never had a higher refresh rate device, so maybe I don't really know what to look for, but I can't see any ghosting on mine. Do I actually have to watch slow motion footage of swiping to see it?

That doesn’t look right to me, though I don’t know if the camera somehow exaggerates the effect. I would try to get hold of another non-Pro iPad for comparison.

It’s recorded with an XS in slow motion setting. Would be interesting to see an comparison with other tablets.
